Ultimate Workout India

Ultimate Workout India transported 19 young people to India in the extreme heat of summer. Temperatures topped 105 degrees Fahrenheit, but the volunteers were excited to serve each day.

Housed on the campus of the Cuddapah Adventist School along with more than 800 Indian children, the young people built walls, planted trees and flowers, sanded and painted brand new beds by the dozen. Action-packed days started early at 6am. Soaring temperatures rose with the hot red sun in a clear sizzling sky, so volunteers only did outdoor manual labor during the morning. Participants took advantage of the remainder of the day to meet and minister to people in the surrounding villages, hold outreach meetings, play with the children, and teach classes at the Cuddapah school. There was even time for some less exciting but necessary tasks like learning to wash their own clothes with a bucket and a brush.

A real highlight for Audrey Wahlen was visiting the villages nearby. She says, "Village visitation is so much fun and I can't wait to go back again. I learned a lot of things in this trip from laying blocks to planting trees. I also learned a bit about myself. I saw God in different ways than I ever have before. I see Him in the bright faces of the little children and in the beautiful sunrise."

After some last minute touches by Ultimate Workout India volunteers, the Cuddapah School campus, built by Maranatha supporters was dedicated on June 29.
